Wind Bells at Heian Jingu

A cool garden pause in the middle of Kyoto's humid summer.

Hundreds of small sounds move through Heian Jingu's garden during the summer wind-bell season.

In 2026, the display runs from June 20 to August 31. Because of garden renovation, the bells are arranged around the bridge inside the Shinen garden. A message strip costs ¥300; the seasonal goshuin is ¥500.

Visit soon after opening or late in the afternoon. Speak softly, leave room on the bridge, and combine the visit with Okazaki rather than crossing the city for one photograph.
