Tea Ceremony, Without the Nerves

A simple guide to joining a Kyoto tea ceremony with confidence.

You do not need to know every rule before joining a tea ceremony. Curiosity, attention, and respect matter more than perfect technique.

Arrive on time, wear clean socks, silence your phone, and tell the host about mobility or dietary needs in advance. Watch the host and follow their cues when receiving sweets and tea.

The quiet pace is the point. Notice the bowl, seasonal flower, sound of water, and gestures before reaching for a camera.
